Where has my brain gone?

I have been so caught up in baby stuff that I failed to mention my smart hubby... he is now a master of Organizational Psychology. Well - pretty much - he still has to take his comp exam in February, but he will pass it for sure. I am so proud of him. We are moving Brea, CA so he can start working for B of A. I am looking forward to being in warmer weather and being close to family. My family is pretty excited,too - not for us to be there, but to have baby Ry so close. I don't blame them - he is a cutie.

Merry Christmas!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Christmas season! It hasn't quite yet felt like Christmas with all of the changes we have had this last month, but it still a wonderful time of year. Two weeks after Ry-guy was born we packed up all of our stuff and put it on a truck to CA! It was a crazy time, but we are happy to be back on the West Coast. We will miss all of our wonderful friends back in NYC though - I cna't believe that our time there is over! Even though I complained - a lot - I will look back on our time there with fondness. Ryan is getting so big and is as cute as ever! At his 2 week check up he was already almost 10 pounds... where did this kid come from? He is holding up his head and working on his smile - I love seeing his little dimple!Enjoy the many pictures - I couldn't decide which ones to post. Also among the changes - I got new hair! Short and dark... I guess since so much else was changing, why not me too :).

I wish that this could really happen!

One Week Old

It has been almost exactly one week since sweet Ryan was born and I am finally coherent enough to type. My mom just left this morning, so Brett and I are on our own! It seems so surreal. It was so wonderful to have my mom here! We are going to miss having her around. For those of you who don't know the whole story about how baby Ryan came - here is a brief version: I went in to be induced on Nov. 30th at 5am. By 12:00 pm the next day... only 30 hours later, the doctor came in and said that things weren't changing and suggested a c-section. I kinda felt like that was coming, but I was still pretty scared. But it would get him here, so they took me in within the next 15 minutes and Ryan was out by 12:38 pm. He was 8 lbs. 12 oz! We were really suprised how big he was - he was pretty much half of the prenancy weight I had gained! The first thing that Brett said was that he looked like a little Ron (my dad). We are not sure anymore quite who he looks like, but all we know is that he is a cutie patootie It is such a blessing to have him in our lives. He has such a sweet spirit. We are excited to be his parents!

I am STILL pregnant!!

We are still anxiously awaiting the arrival of little Ryan. He must be shooting for "fashionably late". I am now four days over due - I never thought that I would be OVERDUE! But, I am sure he will be worth the wait. So, the word is that I am getting induced on Friday, so most likely Ryan will be born on Dec. 1st. Hopefully he will come on his own, but I have a feeling he won't because he hasn't really dropped yet. I am getting an Asian accu-pressure massage tomorrow, so we will see if it helps! That is the news! I really hope that the next post I make is full of good news and pictures!!

Today

Today is the baby's due date and I am blogging... that is all I have to say about that.

UPDATE

I have had many phone calls and text messages from anxious friends and family...so as of today there is no baby yet. I guess he is going to stay in there until he is good and ready. I am thinking this is a sign that he is going to be more like his dad... if he was like me, he would have been out last week... I'm the impatient one :). Still 4 days until the due date though, so we'll keep you posted!

The Nursing Bra Adventure

This experience has to be up there with some of my most embarrassing moments... for all you male readers, you may want to stop right here... As there are only 10 days left... WOW... I am trying to get all the things on my little list done. One was to buy a nursing bra. Here in NYC, it is not as easy as running to your nearest maternity store or Target. The closest place with nursing bras is a place called "The Upper Breastside". I laugh every time I say it. I thought that I could go in there and just pick out a few bras and leave. But no. They put you in this very open and communal dressing room. They gave me some water and some chocolate and then said "OK - take off your shirt!" This was a problem for me for 2 reasons : 1. The garment issue 2. I am one of the most modest people ever! So, they lady and I went back and forth about whether or not I could just leave my undershirt on for a few minutes. Everyone was staring at us, or so I felt. I finally explained to her why I would like to keep my shirt on and she said - "Oh, that's OK". She just didn't get it. Finally after much deliberation, I gave in and it all came off... I was standing there - in the nude. Those were the longest few minutes of my life as the lady measured and gave me things to try on. Finally they were over and I left with 3 bras and some nursing accessories... I think that imposing on people's modesty must be one of their sales tactics because I just wanted to get out of there and would have probably bought whatever they had put in my hands...

The countdown...

I cannot believe that I am going to have a baby any day now... technically 19 days from today, but he is considered "full term" now. I went to the doctor last Tuesday and she sat Brett and I down and reiterated the fact that I am a first time mom and most first time moms deliever on their due dates or even a week later. But all the women in the ward who have just had babies have all delivered about 10 days early - so who knows! I guess the best thing to do is to just assume he will come late and be suprised and excited if he comes early.

I wonder if any studies have been done about fathers "nesting". This whole week, Brett has been moving our furniture around and trying to organzie everything before the baby comes. It is very cute.
