Saturday Outing

After many weeks of hard work ( for Brett) on our yard, we were finally able to go out as a family on Saturday. We had a great time. We first started out by hitting up the Doughnut Man in Glendora. Ryan refers to it as the "really good place". Then we made our way to the book festival at UCLA at met with our good freinds from NYC - the Tanners. Next up, lunch at the Apple Pan and then an afternoon at the temple. We got to visit with my grandparents who are in the temple presidency there and Brett and I took turns going in. It was a wonderful day!

Ryan loved the statues at UCLA. He kept running to each of them saying " Look, Statue of Liberty!" He is a New Yorker, you know. Lots of the statues were nude-y...

At the Festival.

Yard Work

My dad and I were working on the sprinklers in our yard and Ryan decided to join in the fun. Except he felt that he needed to strip down. I wasn't sure if I should put his clothes back on or get the camera. Clearly, I went with getting the camera.

Payment

I don't get paid in dollars, but I get paid like this:

Ryan: "(giving me a big hug) you're my best friend!"

Me: (almost in tears) Really...did you just say that?? You are mine, too! (So is daddy.)

Words can not express the immense joy that filled my heart at that moment. I hope I can always make Ryan feel that way about me.

I know I will always feel that way about him.

Memories

The other day I was washing Ryan's hair, Irubbed my hands together to make bubbles for him. As I was doing this, it triggered a memory. When I was younger, my Grandma Kirkland would soap up her hands and blow bubbles for us when we were in the bath. I forgot all about it until that night. I started doing it for Ryan. He loves it, too. Everytime I do it, I smile and think about my wonderful Grandma Kirkland who passed away a few months ago. People may go, but memories still last.

Red Hots

Brett brought Ryan one of his old soccer shirts and a soccer ball from Spokane. He loves wearing them. I am so glad that Ryan will semi-smile in pictures now. I used to only get pictures of him running away!

Cheap

Ryan is now two so we have to pay for him to fly.

This is our solution.

As tempting as that would be, I don't think we would get past security.

So, Brett just went on a trip by himself to Washington to visit his family.

We missed him lots.

Especially since I don't like staying at our house by myself!

I put the couch in front of the door. Really.

The other nights we got to spend and grammy and grandpa's house, which was lots of fun.

Now we are all back together and are so glad to have our daddy and hubby back!

Easter Fun

We had such a great Easter. We loved having Easter the same day as General Conference. It was so nice to spend the day as a family and remember why we celebrate Easter by listening to the messages about Chrsit shared by the prophet and apostles.

It actually was an Easter weekend. Ryan got to go to an Easter egg hunt Friday AND Saturday AND we had one on Sunday.

He loved it.I got a little suprise from the Easter bunny - so glad he brought me an 18 oz. bag of Cadbury eggs! We had to ration them into plastic eggs so we wouldn't eat the whole bag in 2 days. And we could.
Ryan during an Easter egg hunt. He loved finding the "pee-pee treats" inside of them. We gave him chocolate as a reward during potty training, so now all chocolate is a pee-pee treat!
Ry's basket. He pulled out the potato head and said " got this at Target!" I guess the Easter Bunny needs to start shopping in secret!

My conversation with Ryan the other night( I was getting him ready for bed):

ME: Ry, you have a cute little bum.

RYAN: Mommy has a big one!
