My little newborn isn't so new anymore! While I hate to see him grow up, it is so fun to watch him get more personality and just so dang cute!!

where did my calf muscles go?

so, my title pretty much sums it up! i really miss running and my leg muscles! the wind in my hair ( cause it's windy, not because i am fast), some good tunes, the fresh air... i love it! I have gone once, MAYBE twice a week since i have been able too, which i guess isn't too bad. i keep reminding myself that there is a time and a season and right now, it is baby time. today i stayed in my running clothes all day, hoping to catch a spare half an hour when somone could stay with ry, but no such luck! he is still little and needs his mommy! i am looking forward to when he is old enough to go in the jogger- then we can go together! so for now, i'll stick with my "cardio pilates video"...and nursing - at least that helps with weight control!

Love To the Men in My Life

I just love every day with Brett, my #1 man. He is my favorite person to be around: he is kind, thoughtful, he makes me laugh and he helps me not get stressed out so much. My favorite thing to do with him is just to talk. He motivates me to be a little better each day. I love him even more now because of him I have my little man #2! Each day is such a delight to watch him change and grow. I love each new sound and smile that little Ry makes. How lucky I am to have my two Valentines!

Who said I love you first?Brett did. This is so bad, but neither of us remember where it was. I just remember that all I said was “thank you”. I wanted to be sure I meant it when I said it back.

Who has more speeding tickets?Technically, Brett does, but he didn’t get any tickets until we dated and I was in the car for all of them! Who is smarter?I think we are the same, just in different ways. That is one reason why I liked him so much – we had a lot to talk about.

When there is a fight who usually wins?Neither of us – I would say it is equal. We both try to apologize pretty quick.

Brett does. I am not so good at it after being in NYC for 18 months.

Who is more stubborn?That is a toss up. You would never think that my sweet hubby was stubborn, but he is. For example, one time he was eating wheat thins and fruit dip – gross! When I reacted and told him how gross I thought it was, he kept eating and told me that he liked it. A few days later he revealed that it was actually really gross, but he kept eating it because I was so dramatic about it.

Who kissed who first?
Brett kissed me first, but it was because I was workin’ it!

Who asked who out first?Again, Brett asked me out first, but only after some major flirting by me. He liked another girl when we first met, so it took some work to get him to pay attention to me. It finally worked after 3 weeks, but I thought it was a pity date. When he dropped me off afterward, he said “ Well, I have to go to the store” ( expecting me to offer to go) and I thought that he was just ending the night early and that I would never hear from him again. I went out if town fir a few days after that and when I got back there was a message for me that he had called. I was SO excited! He dropped by unexpectedly that night and we pretty much hung out everyday after that.

Who proposed?
Our story is funny ( it was sad then). We started talking about getting married about 2 months after we started dating so Brett would casually ask quite often. I would tell him that I wanted to, but I wasn’t ready. We broke up a few times until I was finally ready. I went up to Spokane for a week, made my decision when I was back in UT and called Brett and asked if he could come down. On the 4th of July, 2004 I told him I wanted to get married. So, if you look at it that way, I did. But then on Aug 28th(ish) Brett formally proposed. It was great!

What Have I Done?

I admit, I love to hold my baby! Who doesn't, right? And as I have said before, Ryan loves to be held. Sometimes I hold him while he is sleeping because it is fun and he is cute and it is easier than putting him down. Two days ago I was a little sick, so I just rested and held my baby. Then the next day, he souldn't let me put him down AT ALL! He would fall asleep, I would try to put him down and his eyes would pop open... over and over. Lucily he sleeps fine at night after 11 pm. He is actually sleeping in his bed right now, so maybe it was just a bad day yesterday, but I have noticed this to be the case more often than not. I know that I probably did this to myself, but now I want to fix it before it is too late! So, I am reaching out to you experienced mothers - any tips?

Ryan's Blessing and More

When we were in Utah after Christmas, we were able spend time with family, see many of our wonderful friends that we miss so much and bless little Ryan. We had a great time. It seems like we need to be in Utah for a month at a time to be able to spend as much time with everyone as we would like to. It was the sweetest experince to bless Ryan. We did it at my Aunt Becky's house so all of our immediate family could be there. Brett did a beautiful job. Our kid has one great dad!

I think that the best thing we can do is try to live what President Hinkley has taught us. He was truly a prophet of God and a wonderful example of how to live life - faithfully and cheerfully optimistic. Life does get rough at times and you wonder how things will work out ( like how are we going to pay off student loans ever?) but things do work out eventually if we focus on the most important things.

Sleepless in La Verne

Because Ryan has spent his first two months of life surrounded by grandmas, grandpas, aunts and uncles, he has grown quite accustomed to being the center of attention. He is a really good sleeper, especially in people's arms...

However, this has been nap time during the day... Ryan gets to sleep, I lay him down and when I come back to check on him, his big blue eyes are staring up at me.

It is really cute, but a little frusturating. About a week ago I literally could not put him down. He is getting so much bettter though. He has already taken 3 naps in his crib today! It is heavenly! He is waking up right now... gotta go!
