Preschool Celebration

Ryan completed his first year of preschool.  It was twice a week for two hours.  He really enjoyed it.  I loved watching him grow throughout the year.  He learned how to cut paper, write his name, his letters and numbers and how to rhyme.  He would randomly share bits and pieces of things Mrs. Korie would teach him.  For example, we went for a walk last week and saw some flowers.  Ryan said, " April showers bring May flowers!"  I told him it was actually June. Not really...
I am so proud of my smart handsome boy.  I hope he continues to love learning!

The class preformed some cute dances. In all three dances, both boys were in the corner, while the girls were hamming it up.  This is the first dance and you can see that Ryan is timid, but doing it.  By the last dance he was just sitting in his chair.  Boys will be boys.

Beach Time!

We had so much fun at the beach with Uncle Dan Dan and Aunt Christie.  We are so excited that it is beach season!

I love taking pictures of my cute boys at the beach just as much as I love being there!

Soccer Mom

I am now a soccer mom.  For real.  I coached and everything.
Let me tell you... coaching three year olds is hilarious and tiring.
Ryan wasn't so sure about playing at this age.  He kept asking when he was going to be able to play " real soccer".  I kept telling myself every time he ran off the field to sit down that it was because he skills are far above this level of play...
By the end of the season he became a great defender.  It was cute because every time he touched the ball he would do a victory dance and run to me for a high five.  He never scored goals because he would only touch the ball once and then cheer, but he was so cute. Luke was love by all the players and was our little mascot.

It was a fun season.

Eater Bonnets

This hat say " cougar in training".  We start them young!

Easter Egg hunt at Aunt Becky's house
Since Ryan is getting old enough to enjoy and remember holidays, we have been trying to come up with real traditions.  I didn't want to buy my kids full on Christmas-style gifts, but it is always fun to get something.  So Brett came up with the idea of giving the boys treats and a couple of small things in a new hat every year.  I loved the idea and went with it.  If we have girls, this idea may have to change, but for now it is a great one.  When Ryan found his hat full of eggs, he said "I am so happy". Love that kid.
I am so happy and grateful, too, that we know that because Jesus Christ that we can be together with all the ones we love forever.  That is truly the greatest gift.

Mothering Lessons

Yesterday, I learned that I had better practice what I preach.  It was about 9:30 am and I walked to the candy jar and popped a hersey kiss in my mouth.  Two seconds later, Ryan asked if he could have an Oreo.
Here is how that conversation went:
Ry: Mom, can I have an Oreo
Me: No
Ry: Why?
Me ( still chewing my chocolate): Because it is too early for a treat.
Ry: What is in your mouth?
Me: Swallowing fast... Nothing
Oh, man.  I almost got caught doing exactly what I told him not to.
I love that being a mother teaches me how to become a little better each day.  A little more patient.  A little kinder. More selfless.  How to not to eat chocolate in the morning if  don't want my kid to.
It is the greatest job in the world.  I get paid in smiles and hugs and love that are worth more that gold.
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!

Oakland Temple

The Oakland Temple is kind of a special place for me and Brett.  Eight years ago he picked me up at the Oakland airport to do an EFY session at Sanoma State.  We were "broken up" at the time, but he was kind enough to pick me up. I remember getting in the car and it felt so good to be with him again.  The conversation was easy and we kept sneaking smiles at each other.  We then drove to the Oakland temple.  Brett told me that this is where he remembered how much he loved me.  I felt the same way.  It was fun.

Now I have two more boys that I love to be with at the Oakland temple.  Seeing them also reminds me of how much I love Brett.  (Seeing this picture also makes me think about how I should always wear my contacts and that I need a haircut)
And now for one of the cutest pictures ever:
Aw.  I love it.
I am so grateful for forever families!

San Fran Trip

Brett is currently working up in the Bay Area.  We took a little trip to visit him and spent the weekend in San Fransisco.  Despite the pouring rain and the cold we had a good time.  The first two days, Brett worked, so the kids and I did our best to entertain ourselves... in the rain.  Day one was spent going the the Jelly Belly factory.  It was an hour drive... in the pouring rain.  I prayed a lot and held on tight to that steering wheel!  We made it there and back safely and my love of Jelly Belly's is revived.  We have some in the candy jar now.  Day two we woke up to the sun peaking through the clouds.  I loaded up the boys quick and we spent the morning at the cutest children's place ever: Happy Hollow.  It really was awesome.  It was part zoo, part kiddie rides, part park.  They had puppet shows and story time and more... it was great.  Then it started pouring and we left.
Day Three was San Fransisco with Brett.  What a fun fun city.  We went to the Zuem - a great children's museum.  Brett and I had more fun than Ryan!  We ate some great tacos and ice cream for lunch.  We then drove around the city until we found our way to the golden gate bridge.  A great way to end the day!

Duathalon

Brett completed his first Duathalon.  AKA a run(3miles) bike (9 miles) run(3 miles).  It was at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.  It was such a beautiful place for a race.  Even better there was a park right there so we could hang out while we waited.  He did laps around the rose bowl so we got to see him between each of the legs. Brett did awesome and finished 24th overall.  3rd in his age bracket ( there were only 4 but who needs to know).

This is how we all felt after our 6:00 wake up call!

Everyday Life

"How do you do it"? was the comment I got from the EZ lube guy.  He was referring to taking care of the two little guys I have the pleasure of calling mine. This trip to EZ Lube was pretty comical.  It was all normal stuff for me, but when it is being witnessed by a stanger, everything seems more exaggerated.  First Luke was throwing his snacks everywhere and Ryan was spilling his water all over the floor.  Then, while I was in the middle of getting the low down on our car Ryan says he needed to go to the bathroom NOW! When Ryan goes to the bathroom, no matter where we are, he has to strip down.  And I mean down - no shirt, shoes, even socks come off.  He was taking forever, so I told him to just yell for me when he was done.  So, he was in the bathroom singing and yelling and then he threw the door open and came out.  "I am done!"  He was still (naked).  The EZ Lube guy was a little taken back by then.  Then, I had to redress him one handed while the screaming Luke tried to wiggle free from my arms.  Once dressed, Ryan went to play outside. I could see him, but before I knew it, he has somehow toppled the ash tray... thus the comment " how do you do it?" I just said " I really love them a lot".
Which is true and which is why nothing is ever too bad with these crazy boys!
Lukie on the move
Ryan's drawing... I was so proud of him.  It kinda looks like something!  Any guesses as to what it is?  Clue: it has 4 legs.
