More Beach Days

A few weeks ago it was SO hot.  105 to be exact. Luckily we had plans with great friends at the beach. With the way our summers go, hopefully we will get one more beach day in before we switch from hot season to not so hot season We only have two seasons here in CA just so you know.

Backyard Camping

Brett took Ryan on his first "camp-out".  In my parent's back yard.  It was perfect.  We had pizza, went in the spa and then the two of them "camped".  It ended little tramatic for Ryan.  Brett was having a hard time sleeping what with all of the noises and spinklers going on... so he went inside to read for a bit.  Of course while he was out of the tent, Ryan woke up.  Brett was just inside so he could hear Ryan stuggling to get out of the tent.  That was the end of the camping for Ry. Despite that, I think he had fun.  He talks about doing it again, but Dad has assured him that he will stay in the tent next time. 

First Day of Preschool

Ryan had his second first day of preschool.  He was so excited.  He loves Mrs. Sara.  She has got an amazing set up right our of her home.  She has a little classroom attached to her garage.  It is perfect.  Today they are having a water day.  How fun!

We got to spend a wonderful week with Brett's family at Priest Lake in Idaho.  It is SO beautiful there.  Definitely a place I would recommend.

Downtown Spoakne

I have always given Brett a little bit of a hard time about being from Spokane(a.k.a Mullet capital USA). However we took a trip up there a few weeks ago and it did soften my heart - just a little. They have a great little downtown area and it is quite beautiful. We stayed in a hotel that was within waling distance of downtown, so we spent the whole day exploring. We found lots of fun things to do.

It was a great day in Spoake. 
I do need to record a little conversation we had that does reflect the true "Spokane Spirit".  After living in New York, Brett and I enjoy trying local favorite food places where ever we go.  We went out to dinner and then asked the server where we could get some great ice cream in downtown.  His response was classic:
" Well, we have a BaskinRobbins and is it AMAZING.  There is a this place called Ben and Jerry's which is good, too."  We just tried to suppress our snooty giggles. 
 Ah Spoakne it doesn't take much to impress.  That is a good thing.

Happy Birthday Hubs!

32.  That is how old Brett is.  I love having this guy in my life.  He balances me and makes me happy.  He is the most wonderful dad to our boys.

We had fun celebrating his big day with a picnic in the a beautiful spot in Crystal Cove overlooking the ocean, followed by some fancy-smancy dessert at Mastros.  A great night with a great and ever more handsome guy!

4th of July

 For the big 4th, we ventured down to the beach to be with the new sister in law's( Staley) family.  The wonderful Carter family staked out a fire pit in San Clemente and they were literally up all night trying to do it.  They had an excellent set up and we had such a fun fun time with them enjoying the beautiful beach, awesome food and super fireworks show over the water.  It was a great way to spend the holiday! Thank you to the Carters for inviting us and doing all that work! 

 And thank you to the men and women who sacrificed so much to create our wonderful country!!

Drool Babes

Uncrafty people like myself LOVE crafty friends.  My dear friend Claire can make anything she sets her mind to.  One day she just decided to design these awesome bibs ( who does that? oh yes, Claire does) that actually absorb baby drool instead of letting it build up for all the world to see.  They are aweome.
